The Love that moves the sun and the other stars. — Dante.
No piece of writing has affected the way I look at art and poetry as much as Dante’s Paradiso in his Divine Comedy. Dantes Souls is an ongoing series of digital animated projections where I propose visual structures of the landscapes in an empty Heaven after Dante, Beatrice, and the angels left. Each piece has attached a text where I describe a scene of the epic poem so the viewer can imagine it. Stills of these projections are also printed in acid free, museum quality paper, 105cms x 75 cms.
Paradiso is the third part of the Divine Comedy, Dante’s journey through Heaven guided by Beatrice. In the poem, Heaven is depicted as a series of concentric spheres surrounding the Earth, consisting of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Fixed Stars, the Primum Mobile, and finally the Empyrean.
